WiSE Online is an online program designed for rising 5th to 8th graders. We create a platform for young students to explore new topics and develop stronger academic interests.

During WiSE 2023, courses will be held every weekday from 17:00-19:10 PDT (08:00-10:10 China time).

We will try to provide the best learning experiences for students to explore broadly through WiSE Camp Online.
What Do We Teach?
WiSE Camp Online introduces students to math, science, history, and engineering. These courses are designed by our teachers and targeted to young students from 5th to 8th grade.
Math & Life: How Close Are We to Math?
This course is designed to build creativity, curiosity, and passion among young scholars. The course contains three sections. In the first section, students will play some math-related games. They will solve math problems, encode their own messages, and learn to make decisions with weighted charts. This section will be taught by Annie and Kate together. In the second section, students will be exposed to both basic and advanced data analysis. They will learn to utilize Excel in solving practical problems, and use different mathematical terms and methods to analyze datasets. Students will also be introduced to an established project of data analysis to get a broader sense of these techniques. This session will be taught by Annie. In the last section, taught by Kate, students will be participating in a game simulation workshop in which they will be introduced to an established game modeling project and choose to model a basic game of their choice.
Psychology and Life
This course is designed to arouse students’ interest in psychology and inspire them to dig deeper into the psychological field. Have you questioned why people have different personalities or why people act the way they do? These are the common questions that a psychological scientist would ask. The field of psychology spans a vast range of topics and perspectives, from evolution to morality, and the common goal of psychological science is to understand how our mind and brain interact with the external world to shape our behaviors. This course allows students to recognize the fundamental concepts and theories of psychology and introduce them to some of the most famous psychological experiments researchers have conducted throughout history.

A Continent’s Past, Present, and Future in the American Revolution
This course is designed to introduce the causes, effects, and important events like significant battles of The American Revolution to students. As the famous author Mark Twain once said, “History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme.” By understanding history, students can apply lessons to the present thus reducing unnecessary mistakes. Students will be given lectures and will work on analyzing primary sources during and after class. There might be some homework assigned to finish after class, but it would be very light.
Physics: Fundamental Theorem of Mass, Energy, Space, and Time
This course is designed for middle school students to have a basic understanding of physics. Students will learn about physics concepts like measurements, motion, force, energy, momentum, Newton’s laws, waves, electricity, etc. Students are expected to participate and take notes in class. There will be homework after every class for students to practice their skills. The workload for homework is approximately 30 minutes. Students are expected to finish and submit the homework after each class. A Certificate of Completion will be presented for students who complete more than 80% of classes and homework.
